Winter ends, Spring arrives with its beautiful gardens that flower then wither with wind and unseasonal conditions, but, Summer and Christmas is there again before we've even thought about it - then, New Year and . . .
Sunday barbecues in the Berridale Lions park come around quickly - time for a great evening meeting friends and chatting informally over the sausages/steaks/chops or whatever you bring to barbecue. Every year, three Sunday evenings in January.
Meetings are on the 4th Friday of each month at 3 Mary Street Berridale - please come!
Operation Christmas Child brings people of all persuasions together to work for a common cause. The Berridale group meets monthly bringing ideas, crafts, talents together, making items, finishing off others, helping each other with their crafts to fill hundreds of shoe boxes ... read on ...
Shoe boxes are decoratively covered and lovingly packed with one object from each of the following:
something to love; something to wear; something to play with; something for hygiene; and, something educational.
Everyone involved does such a great job they're to be commended. Some people even put together their own boxes and present them.
Boxes are filled all over the world and are sent to needy children worldwide. They not only bring great delight to children, but are an expression of the love of God to children, families, and their communities. Items are quite often shared with family members and others.
EVERY YEAR THE BOXES DELIGHT US AS WE PACK, AND, MOST ESPECIALLY, DELIGHT THE CHILDREN WHO RECEIVE THEM! If you would like to be part of the group, or work alone at home, contact Robyn Woodhouse on 64563234.
Robyn Is always thrilled by the group's commitment packing over 160 boxes annually surprising children around the world. Thousands of boxes are sent from around New South Wales and the rest of Australia.
Thank you to the Berridale Lions Club, and others, who donate $$$ toward international transportation costs of boxes.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL INVOLVED AND SPECIAL THANKS TO ROBYN!
PACKING DAY in October at the Berridale Tennis Club House. Thanks to the tennis players for assembling the boxes between games and at morning tea.
Work always produces positive results. Boxes are transferred to Canberra, thanks to Snow Liner Coaches who carried the boxes which were then forwarded on to Sydney. Once in Sydney boxes are checked for correct contents, sorted for various countries ready to send. Our age group is 5-9 year children. The toys, bags, dresses, shorts, t-shirts, other crafts and washer bags were fabulous - any child receiving them would be proud of their 'gorgeous' presents.
Boxes are sent to New Guinea, Vietnam, Samoa, Vanuato, Taiwan and many other third world countries.
The Uniting Church Op Shop - please continue to support them . . .

This is a great meeting place for locals, visitors to the region - local, from interstate, and even international visitors. Everyone is welcome to come and browse, buy, chat, have a cuppa, deliver suitable used goods, or just meander to fill time.
They say ... "PLEASE COME AND SEE US AND OUR 'WARES' . . . "
